If it weren’t for travel, I wouldn’t be writing this right now. All Things Architecture wouldn’t exist, and I probably wouldn’t have developed a love for architecture or history. It was because my family took me on trips throughout my childhood that I became with different places and the history of those places.
I remember sitting in the backseat of our car, driving cross-country–experiencing the extravagance of Las Vegas-resorts, the serene urban oasis of the San Antonio River Walk, and the Art Deco splendor of Miami Beach. Those early moments shaped the way I see the world and wired my brain for what I’d eventually be doing here.
That’s why I take travel seriously–and why I want it to be a cornerstone of what we do at All Things Architecture.
This month, we’re hitting the road to uncover the stories behind some of the world’s most iconic architectural destinations.
That includes the premiere of a new series on our YouTube channel: Architecture Expeditions. These are architecture-centric travelogues that highlight the power of place, the importance of design, and the need to make architecture a meaningful part of how we travel.
From the sun-drenched desert geometry of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Arizona masterpieces to the sweeping curves of Miami’s Fontainebleau, this issue explores how the building we visit shape us.
I hope it inspires you to get out there and experience the architecture that makes each place unique.
And we’d love to hear from you–share your favorite architectural destinations by tagging us on social media using the #ArchExpedtions
Until then, I’ll see you on the road.
